It’s that time of year again! For the past two years, I have had the pleasure of reviewing REDBOOK Magazine’s annual Red Beauty Box and just a few weeks ago, this year’s box landed at my doorstep. I could not wait to see what was inside this year’s box because each box is always filled with the hottest beauty brands from skincare to beauty tools to makeup. This year’s box did not disappoint and included some of the newest haircare and skincare products. I’m sharing the real deal on all five products included in the 2017 Red Beauty Box so let’s get into it!
Inside the REDBOOK Red Beauty Box:
Big Sexy Hair Powder Play Lite Soft Volumizing & Texturizing Powder
With its unique dispensing system that evenly mists powder in a cloudlike spray, Big Sexy Hair Powder Play Lite Soft Volumizing & Texturizing Powder provides soft volume and texture in an instant. Its lightweight, talc free formula liquefies during use, so it can used even on dark hair colors. To learn more about this product, click here.
Since my hair is naturally curly and voluminous, I knew this particular product was not targeted towards me, but I wanted to give it a try. I tested a patch area of my hair and I could see it did add slight volume to my curls and did not irritate my sensitive scalp. I could see this product being great for revitalizing naturally, curly hair when it’s gone flat. Also, I think this product would be ideal for those with fine hair that want a boost of volume and/or texture.
Mary Kay Clear Proof Deep-Cleansing Charcoal Mask
Enjoy clearer-looking skin with the newest addition to the Clear Proof Acne System. The triple-action mask deeply cleanses skin, immediately reduces shine and features an effective complex of botanical extracts to help clear the way to beautiful skin. The mask is formulated with activated charcoal, an ingredient so powerful, it can bind up to double its weight in pore-clogging impurities. To learn more about this product, click here.
As someone with combination to oily skin, I am a huge fan of any and all things with activated charcoal. Activated charcoal really works to remove oil and impurities from the skin. Funny enough, I have seen raves of the Mary Kay Clear Proof Deep-Cleansing Charcoal Mask before I received my box so naturally, I could not wait to use it. One thing I really like about this product is how easy it is to apply. Some products with activated charcoal are thick and hard to smooth across the skin. Not the Mary Kay Clear Proof Mask! It has a slightly runny consistency that is easy to smooth across the face. Plus, it was easy to remove with warm water. I noticed my skin was smooth and firm after removal. My skin felt great!
Curel Hydra Therapy Wet Skin Moisturizer
After showering, your pores are open, providing an easy pathway for moisture to absorb into just-showered skin. Curel Hydra Therapy Wet Skin Moisturizer with Advanced Ceramide Complex, penetrates deeply into the skin’s surface bringing moisture to the source of dryness. I was excited to see the Curel Hydra Therapy Wet Skin Moisturizer as soon as I opened the Red Beauty Box. As you all may remember, I have dry skin and eczema and Curel is one of the only brands that truly moisturizes my skin without irritation. Moisturizing as soon as I am done showering is a must to combat dry skin so I love that Curel can be put on my skin while it is still wet and I do not even have to worry about rinsing. I was able to shower, apply Curel Hydra Therapy Wet Skin Moisturizer, do my usual bathroom routine and then pat dry. My skin looked glowy and soft all day.

The Finishing Touch Flawless Hair Remover caught my eye as soon as I saw the package. I loved the beautiful white and rose gold encompassing the device, but of course I immediately wondered, does this really work? I have always had the unfortunate task of removing facial hair since I was a teenager. I have done everything from shaving (yikes) to waxing to threading to keep my facial hair, especially chin hair, at bay. I was excited to see if this would really do the trick.
When I opened the package, I really liked that it came with the battery that was needed and included simple instructions on how to get started. I literally opened the device, input the battery and I was good to go. They recommend turning the device on and rotating it in circular motions to remove hair. I immediately aimed for my lip and chin and guess what? I could not feel a thing. Hair was gone and it did not hurt, pinch or anything! My face was super smooth and hair free. I did notice that hair began to grow back quicker than when I have it threaded, but the packaging says it is safe to use daily. I plan to continue to use it a few times a week to see if it will make my facial hair battle easier.

It is very seldom that I am blown away by a product, but this product is AMAZING! I would advise everyone to get this. I received the lavender eye masks. One box contains seven individually wrapped masks. All you have to do is open the individual package, tear the perforated middle and place over your eyes. It was immediately soothing and the smell was great. It reminded me of being at a spa. I wore it for 10 minutes and felt so relaxed afterwards. These are a definite game changer!
