I believe in creating a wardrobe that is multi-functional. I love having a piece that can be worn not only to the office, but to church, date night, etc. African prints are like a delicacy in a wardrobe. They are gorgeous, bold prints that are so unique and fun. I have been wearing African prints to the office for quite some time now. You may be wondering if these prints are appropriate for the office, but trust me, it's all about how you wear them and the cut of the garment. I have worn a vintage African print jacket to the office and received compliments all day long as well as a knee length skirt. The cut and styling are keys.
When it comes to the wearing African prints to the office, be mindful of the cut of the garment. You don't want a piece that is too tight or too short. A blazer, dress or longer skirt in African print are always a good idea. Also, pay attention to styling. Sometimes African prints can be bold in color so it's important to keep everything else neutral.
For instance, in this look, the top portion of this dress is a little too tight around my bust so I opted to wear a turtleneck underneath. This striped turtleneck or even a black turtleneck tie this look together without being overpowering. With an African print dress or skirt, you could pair it with a pussybow blouse and/or blazer for a very professional look. Don't shy away from prints in the office. Embrace them and show your co-workers how it's really done!
