Now that I am back to reality and rocking my natural hair again, I wanted to address a popular question that many women face when deciding on extensions.
Should I wear curly or straight extensions?
The answer to this question is simply going to depend on the individual, but after wearing both types of extensions, I wanted to share some advantages and disadvantages of both hair types for women with natural hair. At the end of the post, let me know what you prefer!
Curly/Kinky Hair Extensions
Up until two months ago, this was the only type of hair extensions I had true experience with. I wore them here and here and oftentimes had people believing it was my hair.
Advantages
- Easily blends with natural hair
- Limited heat needed
- Can be found in inexpensive variations
- Can be very natural in appearance
Disadvantages
- May be hard to manipulate into other styles, such as straightening
Straight Hair Extensions
I recently wore straight hair extensions throughout two months and I was able to gain a new experience.
Advantages
- Ability to create a variety of styles
- i.e. straightening or curling hair as well as high ponytails and buns
- Can be very natural in appearance
Disadvantages
- Requires direct heat on hair (if hair is left out)
- May require more expensive extensions for the most natural appearance
What do I prefer?
Both! Admittedly, I am always going to be more partial to curly/kinky extensions because with them, I don't have to put heat on my own natural hair. However, I loved being able to whip my hair for the past two months and I can't wait to reuse my last extensions.
What do you prefer? Curly/Kinky or Straight Extensions?
God bless & stay fabellis,
