When I first saw MahoganyCurls' Curly Fro video, I was immediately in awe of how beautiful her curls were. I decided that that would be my holiday hairstyle. So last Tuesday evening, I made up my mind to give the style a try. I changed a few of the steps to achieve the hairstyle. Keep reading to see how I achieved this style!
Check out how I achieved these results below:
1. I washed my hair with Shea Moisture African Black Soap, conditioned with Tresemme Naturals Conditioner and used Finickey Leave-In Conditioner.
2. I sectioned and detangled my hair.
3. I took sections of my hair, applied EcoStyler Argan Oil gel to my hair and rolled it using perm rods from Sally's.
4. I let my hair dry overnight and removed the perm rods in the morning.
5. I pulled the curls apart, fluffed and done!
Maintenance
- At night, I covered my hair with a satin bonnet and in the morning, fluffed with my fingers and a hair pick.
Note: The only difference between what I did and MahoganyCurls' video was that I put the perm rods in wet hair versus dry hair and I used EcoStyler Argan Oil gel versus EcoStyler Protein Gel.
Would you try the curly fro?
God bless & stay fabellis!
Cute...I think I may try this tonight because I tried a twist out last night and it turned out horrible!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat size perm rods did you use? I'm new to perm rods and flexi rods...I keep seeing these posts about using them and then I end up getting overwhelmed with the size choices when I head over to Amazon!
ReplyDeleteit looks really nice!
ReplyDeleteThanks Joanne!
ReplyDeleteI used the 9/16" rods. I got them from Sally's Beauty: http://www.sallybeauty.com/Perm-Rods-Long/SLNCAR33,default,pd.html?cm_vc=SEARCH

ReplyDeleteLove this look! How long did it last? I always have a hard time getting rod/roller sets to last for more than a day or two.
ReplyDeleteThanks! It lasted about four days.
ReplyDeleteI saw Mahogany Curls pic on IG, I was drooling. She kilt that curly fro! I am loving the aviators and camouflage.
ReplyDeleteNo heat? I'm in, I love when you can get gorgeous style without heat! But what is a perm rod and where can I get them? Also, sleeping with them in, it's not uncomfy much? Sorry for so many questions but I'm excited to try this!
ReplyDeleteA perm rod is basically a rod used to curl hair that typically has a perm or relaxer in it; however, it can work on all types of hair. You can find them at any beauty supply store, but I purchased mine from Sally's Beauty because each pack is on sale for under $2 with a Sally's card. Also, sleeping in them was a little uncomfortable, yes, but not too bad for me. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks lady! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Inez!! :)
