Natural Hair: What Products Do You Use? [Part 2]

Hello Beauties!

Recently I was on the way to lunch with my co-workers, when another naturalista stopped me and asked me what products I use on my hair.  After our conversation, one of my co-workers asked if that's common for women with natural hair to stop others and discuss our hair.  When I thought about it, I realized that this happens all the time!  For me, I enjoy sharing what works for my hair.  I always encourage women to find out what works best for their hair because everyone's hair is different with different needs.

Many of the products I use religiously have changed since the last products post.  Much of that comes with my hair being longer than it was in seven months ago and constantly learning what works for my hair.

Here are my current natural hair must-haves:

Shampoo
Shea Moisture Moisture Retention Shampoo

Conditioner
Tresemme Luxurious Moisture Conditioner
Silk Element MegaSilk Olive Oil Conditioner

Deep Conditioner
Cantu for Natural Hair Deep Treatment Mask

Leave-in Conditioner
Cantu for Natural Hair Curl Activator Cream (...can also be used as a cream for wash & go hair!)

Styling Products
Beautiful Textures' Moisture Butter (...perfect for twist outs!)
Cantu for Natural Hair Hair Lotion (...my go-to product for refreshing curls OR a puff.)
Cantu for Natural Hair Twist & Lock Gel (...perfect for twists and twist outs.)
EcoStyler Olive Oil Gel (...I always use this to hold the sides and edges of my puffs.)

Hair Photos

Wash Day

Two Strand Twists

Twist Out

Puff
I didn't go into a lot of detail on each product because the key to natural hair for me is moisture and all of these provide moisture and sheen for my hair.  Also, they are all affordable and under $10!  These products can be found at Walgreens, Walmart or Sally's Beauty Supply.

What are your must-have natural hair products?

  1. OMG Yes! I was at the DC Auto Show + the lady working the concession stand started a whole convo with me about my hair. My friend (who I was with) was later shocked when I told him I didn't even know the woman! Love the hair!

  2.  It literally amazes me how we can just have a 15 minute conversation with someone about hair, LOL!  Thanks for the compliment!  :-)

It is time for me to purchase some new products!  I am not in love with the ones that I have.

  4.  I can understand that.  I definitely got bored with the ones I was using previously.  I definitely recommend the Beautiful Textures Moisture Butter above all else.  Great results!

  6. Thanks!  When I went natural, my hair was longer on the top and I haven't cut it (except to trim) since then.

  7. I also use SheaMoisture Moisture Retention Shampoo. I've been looking for a good twist out butter though. I've tried a sample of the Beautiful Textures Leave-in Conditioner and really liked it...minus the fragrance. I might have to check out the butter.
