I have a surprise! After allowing my natural hair to grow for over two years, I made a decision that came as a surprise to many. I decided to cut my hair! I previously made statements on my thoughts on cutting it randomly, but it didn't become official until I posted this picture on Instagram. It was a decision that although I had been thinking about for awhile, really needed to be thought out completely. The decision needed to be thought about because at the end of the day, hair doesn't grow back overnight...
So what was my reason behind the cut and why did I decide to do it? Beyond the natural desire for a new look, I was in desperate need of more shape to my hair and honestly, I had begun to get tired of the maintenance involved with long, natural hair. It became a task and I started to lose interest in the goal of "length."
After talking it out with loved ones and praying (just that serious), I felt at peace about it so I made an appointment with Taji's Salon and did the deed! I love the way it came out! I thought I would feel strange or it would be an adjustment, but because I didn't go back to my true TWA (teeny weeny afro) state, I feel fine and I'm glad I made the decision.
So, are you for length or open to new styles?
God bless & stay fabellis,
I love it! The cut & style fits you perfectly. Trust I understand, It is a big decision to cut your hair but it's always good to be open to different hair styles.
ReplyDeleteRecently I have been thinking of cutting mines as well, but the hubby is all about the length (I think I traumatized him when I big chopped)! You look great!!!
ReplyDeleteLove it!!! Did Taji cut it?
ReplyDeleteLove the look!!! Next month will be my 1 year naturalversity.I got mine cut ALL the way off and had it bleached to sandy brown. I'm going for length right now...but who knows? When I get 2 years into it, I may cut it again...this cute cute!!!
ReplyDeleteLove your new look, sis! I think you look GREAT with the shorter look. I approve! ;-)

Love it. You know short hair is my friend! LOL
ReplyDeleteLook Fab! But your hair was so pretty. I am a fan of short hair tho!
ReplyDeleteThanks! You know I love your TWA. So fabulous on you with your glasses!
ReplyDeleteThank so much! I know men get so easily attached to length, but maybe you could do something mid-length so that it's easier for you, but less traumatic for him. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! No, Ameera cut it for me.
ReplyDeleteThank you! It's so funny because when you go natural, I think everyone's goal is length. Honestly, my hair was longer than it had been in years at my two year mark and I was just like, "I don't think this is my goal anymore." Natural hair rocks no matter what length! :-)
ReplyDeleteGirl, I know. LOL! Thanks Tori. :-D
ReplyDeleteLOL! Sorry love. My hair grows quickly so it will be back...if I don't cut it again. :-)
ReplyDeleteNice haircut, you look fabulous!
ReplyDeleteAwwww. Cute!!! Jazzy cut.
ReplyDeleteLove it! I completely feel you, shape is so more important than length to me. Plus you have the maintenance that "long" hair brings. You're rocking it! :)
ReplyDeleteLove your hair and your whole outfit -- too cute! Plus, that lip color is amazing :) ~Maika
ReplyDeleteLove the cut. You look beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great!
ReplyDeleteI have a crazy head of curls but I want to try a short hair cut this year for my birthday...after all it is my 35th birthday and I want like a short cut on the sides and then a long piece of hair down the middle...I want something fun! And I'm afraid..I'm not going to look good but you know what? Who cares...it's only hair.
your curls AND cut are equally gorgeous! i'm not natural, but i still love me some short hair.
ReplyDeleteSo, I love the reasoning behind the cut and actually...you inspired a blog post *grabs notepad and scribbles frantically before these thoughts leave my head*. I think the silhouette looks amazing and I am so happy it turned out how you wanted it to. A bad cut can seem life altering at the time!
ReplyDeleteI love the hair cut!!! It looks great
